The USTA/Montana District is seeking District League Coordinator. Duties include: Coordinating and supervising all USTA League Tennis Activities in the District. Must be organized, friendly and possess good computer skills. Being an active tennis player is a plus.
During this championship weekend, we saw three young players disqualified under USTA's new dynamic rating system. Nothing like that has ever happened in Montana before. Many have been struggling over the past few days to make sense of what happened, and determine what the next step should be. Several proposals have been made, and chaos and uncertainty have followed. The League Committee of the Montana Tennis Association has met via telephone and email, and has made a decision about how to move forward from this point.
Herb Neils has been recently diagnosed with cancer and is expected to live just 6 months to one year. Herb is an amazing person, and has accomplished a great deal in his 82 years. This past year two endeavors are particularly noteworthy. He completed his book, “The Greatest Trophy” and received from the USTA a “Lifetime of Service to Tennis” Award. Before he dies, Herb has a dream: That at least one of his tennis courts will be renovated so that friends and neighbors in general, and the Libby High School Tennis team specifically, can use this facility free of charge forever.
Greg Haas of Helena won the grand prize of two spots on the USTA/Montana District 2008 US Open Tour. The tour will be Labor Day Weekend 2008 and includes hotel nights and tennis tickets. Finalists were guaranteed a prize from official raffle sponsor Prince valued at $50 or more if not the grand prize.
The women’s team from Bozeman, Mont., representing the USTA Intermountain section, captured the national title at the USTA League presented by Chrysler 4.0 Adult National Championships held at the Randolph Tennis Center in Tucson, Arizona.
